Ashlee and Jessica Simpson have proved many times over the adage, any press is good press.
The Simpson sisters may, in fact, be the most fortunate pop stars ever. Jessica's career was headed south when MTV recharged it with the reality show "Newlyweds," which documented the frivolities surrounding her marriage to 98° singer Nick Lachey.
Her goody-goody image paved the way for little sister Ashlee to carve out her own niche as the bad girl. Ashlee dyed her blond hair black and got a reality show, too ("The Ashlee Simpson Show"), which documented the frivolities surrounding the making of her debut album.
Ashlee got busted lip-syncing on "Saturday Night Live" and then booed when she performed during the Orange Bowl halftime show.
Has that stopped fans from loving her? No. It just makes them love her more.
Which, in turn, infuriates smug, music-know-it-all parents and other fuddy-duddy adult types who like to say Ashlee Simpson has no talent.
