Ashlee Says New Single Isn't Directed At Lindsay Lohan
UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Ashlee Simpson's new single includes the chorus "I didn't steal your boyfriend," but she claims it's not directed at Lindsay Lohan, as tabloid readers might assume.
(Simpson allegedly wooed actor Wilmer Valderrama away from Lohan.)
"It's not about one person in particular, it's just something every girl can relate to," Simpson said of "Boyfriend" at Sunday's 2005 Teen Choice Awards. "It's a song about [how] every girl out there sometimes thinks you stole her boyfriend. It's just making fun of that."
Ashlee was originally planning to release the girl anthem "L.O.V.E." as the first single, but recently changed her mind, just as she did with the title of the album, due October 18. Instead of In Another Life, it's now called I Am Me, a more accurate reflection of the personal lyrics on the album.
"I've been through a lot this year, and with my records I always think it's really important to just put your whole self out there and I feel like it definitely has that element," Simpson said.
As her father/manager, Joe Simpson, recently revealed, the lyrics even deal with Ashlee's experience lip-synching disaster on "Saturday Night Live."
"I learned a lot [from that]," Simpson said. "There was a moment where I felt really broken and didn't know what to do with myself, and I wrote a song about picking yourself back up and it's OK because we all fall on our face. And I'm really happy with the song. It's called 'Beautifully Broken.' "
Ashlee is currently discussing video ideas for "Boyfriend" with director Marc Webb, whose dozen videos this year alone include My Chemical Romance's "Helena" and Hilary Duff's "Wake Up" and Hot Hot Heat's "Middle of Nowhere." She's also planning a fall tour to promote I Am Me.
"Me and my band have been rehearsing so I'm really excited," she said.

Ashlee Has Forgiven Avril
Pop star Ashlee Simpson has forgiven Avril Lavigne for nasty comments the Canadian made about her singing ability after her infamous lip-synching on US live TV show Saturday Night Live - because she has since apologised.
Simpson reveals she confronted the pop punk at a party and asked her about comments she made suggesting Simpson "didn't deserve" to be on the Snl stage if she relied on backing tapes.
Simpson says, "I won't say anything bad about anyone, even if they talk about me."
"I hung out with Avril once and I said to her, 'Hey, I heard that you said some things,' and she was like, 'Sorry,' and that was cool."
"I'm not in high school and I don't need drama."

Ashlee's dad hits back
Ashlee Simpson was left red-faced after an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Ashlee's band started playing the wrong song and all that was heard was recorded vocals.
Simpson even carried on with her performance pretending to sing.
The younger sister of Jessica later claimed that a heartburn remedy had damaged her vocal cords.
However her dad has defended her saying: "I was surprised by the reaction because she didn't expose a boob, she wasn't doing drugs, she isn't anorexic and she didn't get married in Vegas"
He added: "I don't think this will hurt her credibility with kids, they won't care."

Ashley Rips Scott's Pleas
Ashley Olsen is refusing to take back exflame Scott Sartiano.
A source close to the couple, who split before Memorial Day, says Scott was so upset about Ashley's refusal to return his calls that he flew to L.A. the week of June 13 in a bid to win her back.
"Ashley is very bitter right now. Scott has no chance," the source tells Star People. "Ashley finally told him she didn't want to be his Hamptons vacation fixture and attract people to his parties. She does not want to be anyone's 'product.'"
The source adds Ashley also told Scott, who co-owns trendy NYC restaurant/club Butter, that Star's June 27 story about the split was "so on point."
But don't pity Scott, as he was reportedly seen consoling himself with Ashlee Simpson at L.A.'s club Mood before flying home. Her rep insists they're "just friends."

Simpson Denies Accusations She Physically Threatened Lohan
Singer Ashlee Simpson has denied accusations she threatened to attack Lindsay Lohan because the Mean Girls star refused to let her into her party on Saturday night.
The pair have allegedly been embroiled in a bitter feud since Lohan accused Simpson of "stealing" her ex-boyfriend, actor Wilmer Valderrama last year.
But the rumours have been fuelled following reports the pair almost had a "catfight" after Lohan banned Ashlee and her sister Jessica from coming to her bash at Los Angeles' Standard venue after the Mtv Movie Awards.
The Simpsons went to Jimmy Fallon's party at Los Angeles' Argyle Hotel instead, and reportedly hit out at Lohan who arrived later.
But they overcame their differences after Lohan explained it was a mistake that they were not let into her party, reports website Pagesix.com.v Lohan's representative confirms the mix-up: "Their names got misplaced on the list."
And Ashlee's spokesperson denies claims the Pieces Of Me star threatened Lohan, adding, "Ashlee and Jessica had a great time at Jimmy's party, which was the hottest one of the night."

Celebrity eye doctor Jailed for tax evasion
The eye doctor who performed Lasik surgery on pop siblings JESSICA and Ashlee Simpson is on his way to prison for tax evasion. DR GLENN KAWESCH (corr) has been accused of shortchanging America's Inland Revenue Service (IRS) out of $4 million (GBP2.1 million) in taxes. According to US news show CELEBRITY JUSTICE, the doctor allegedly used some of the money to buy himself a private jet. Kawesch, who appeared on Jessica Simpson's THE NEWLYWEDS reality TV show, has been sentenced to five months. It has been a bad 12 months for the eye doctor - California's state medical board revoked his license last summer (04), due to dishonest business practices.

Ashlee Simpson's ex-boyfriend RYAN CABRERA is set to put on a very special performance on 4 June (05) - as the homecoming queen's date at a high school prom. Ashlee Simpson was in floods of tears this week, when she was led to believe she'd ruined the work of a dead artist. The singer visited a gallery with pals, and was shown the work of a supposedly dead artist who was so poor he painted on cardboard instead of canvas. Her evening of admiring art soon turned chaotic when she placed a pal's jacket on a table and pranksters on Ashton Kutcher's show Punk'd pretended it had caught fire on a candle - setting off sprinklers and ruining the paintings. Ashlee Simpson made herself put up with the constant criticism she faced in the aftermath of her lip-synching controversy, because losing her cool would have further dented her self-esteem. Simpson Backs Teen Pregnancy Campaign>
Ashlee Simpson — who worked with Candie's last fall to encourage people to vote — is teaming up with the shoe company once again for a different cause: to raise awareness about teen pregnancy. Simpson will be performing at "The Event to Prevent," a concert the Candie's Foundation is holding May 3 at New York's Gotham Hall. Pepper's ghost - "Shake the hand that shook the world"
There's a Brill Building aesthetic to the music of Pepper's Ghost. Despite the edge in the band's guitar work and drumming on its debut CD, melody is king. With a strong Beatles complex, especially on "Heavy Body Bag" and "You're in My Heart (Little Pretty"), the group has built-in appeal. That wasn't apparent when it opened for Ashlee Simpson last month. On disc, doubts about whether the band can make it are dispelled with pop craft and slick, understated production. The vocal harmonies from brothers Anthony and Michael Montesano are also nice. This record has instant pop charm that takes no effort to enjoy - but most songs are so lite, you'll easily grow tired of them.

Simpson backs teen pregnancy campaing
Pop star Ashlee Simpson is re-teaming with shoe company candie's to raise awareness about teen pregnancy. The Pieces Of Me singer, who worked with Candie's in the autumn (04) to encourage people to vote, will co-headline the event to prevent concert on 3 May (05) at New York City's Gotham Hall. The candie's foundation event will also feature Jewel and will honour US newswoman Katie Couric and actress Kane Fonda.

Hey guys! I just wanted to let y'all know, we've all recovered from whatever sickness plagued the tour and now we're just all about havin fun! You guys got to see it last night if you were at the Pittsburgh show-we all painted each other's faces up before the show-everyone looked hilarious! As for her next single...no one is sure yet which one it will be, but there will be one...also, she doesn't pull someone up on stage for pieces of me on tour because the venues are so much bigger and security is so crazy...just wanted to answer a few questions-i can't wait to meet y'all soon!

Auto Tour - Universal City, CA
Ashlee performed at the Universal Amphitheater in Universal City, CA last night for her second stop on the Autobiography tour. It is reported that other celebrities were in attendance including professional football players and even Britney Spears. The Simpson clan was there as well, Nick and Jessica too. Ashlee sang Happy Birthday to her father, Joe. Ashlee and Zach did their hand thing. If you watch Ashlee's show, you know what I mean. Apparently, there is no tour book as of yet and lastly, I have a lot of amazing, exclusive video footage for all of you!! Tsunami Ebay auctions
The Teen People and Unicef Tsunami relief ebay auctions ended today. The one which auctioned off Ashlee's Punk Royal pants, Marc Jacobs boots, foosball table and VIP concert passes went for $11,100.00! Then there was an auction for backstage passes to the Orlando show on Ashlee's upcoming tour. That one went for $5,800.00. Also, there was an auction for demo tape advice from Jordan Schur which used Ashlee's name to help promote it. That one went for $2,025.00. So, all in all, Ashlee's helped raise around $19,000 for the Tsunami disaster. Pretty awesome!

Tsunami Relief Efforts
Ashlee's been hard at work gathering donations from her famous friends to benefit UNICEF's tsunami relief efforts! She's teamed up with TEEN PEOPLE Magazine to create an auction that includes a lot of awesome packages - everything from a phone call from Chad Michael Murray, Jessica Simpson's Louis Vuitton shoes and the autographed foosball table straight from Ashlee's rec room! There's a ton of incredible items and experiences available, and it benefits a great cause. The auction goes live tonight, February 4th at 6 PM EST and will run through the same time on Monday, February 14th.
